Mutnovsky is a periodically active Volcano in southern Kamchatka, about 70 km SW of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It is composed of four overlapping stratovolcanoes and summit craters up to 1.3 km wide. 

Two smalll phreatic eruptions occurred in the north crater of Mutnovsky Volcano on 30th June 2000. In October 2000 gas-and-steam explosions occurred with plumes reaching 1000 m above the volcano.
