Chacana volcano is located 30 km SE of Quito. The volcano contains a large eroded caldera complex. The caldera is 32 km long and 24 km wide.

Chacana caldera is the largest rhyolitic eruptive center in the northern Andes. Lava flows occurred at the volcano in the 18th century.
