Stratovolcano
Chiliques Volcano is located in northern Chile. The volcano contains a 500 m wide crater and lava flows extending up to 5 km NW.
On January 6, 2002 nighttime thermal infrared image from Aster satellite found a hot spot in the summit crater, as well as several others along the upper flanks of the volcano's edifice, indicating new volcanic activity.
Previous eruptions of Chiliques volcano were 10,000 years ago!
