Coleman undersea volcano in located 20 km SW of Rendova Island. It was discovered by Moana Wave research vessel during a November 1985 to January 1986 cruise.

Coleman lies on the subducting Australian tectonic plate. It is in the initial stage of of dismemberment as it becomes subducted at the edge of the Pacific plate.

2010 Earthquake
A magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit 22 km ENE of Coleman Seamount on 4th January 2010.
