Ghegam volcano is located between Yerevan and Lake Sevan. It contains lava domes and pyroclastic cones.

The eruption centres cover a 65 km long, 35 km wide area west of Lake Sevan and south of the Hrazdan River. Lava flows from the central and eastern areas flowed into Lake Sevan.

The central and eastern portions of the Ghegam Ridge contains fresh lava flows devoid of vegetation.
