Cinder cones

Gordon volcano is located in northern Wrangell Mountains, of eastern Alaska. The volcano consists of a cinder cone, with a summit crater, west of Nabesna Glacier.

Mt Gordon is one of the largest cinder cones in the Wrangell volcanic field. Lava flows extending to the north pre-date formation of the cinder cone. Coarse tephra erupted from the cone are found up to 13 km from Mt Gordon.
