Nantai volcano is located in Nikko National Park.
Lake Chuzenji was formed by an eruption of Nantai volcano which blocked the Daiya River.

In 2008 volcanic rocks were discovered at the volcano dated 7000 years old. This means that Nantai volcano can be classified as active. There are many tourist areas close to the volcano.
