Pular volcano is located in Antofagasta Region of northern Chile, 13 km from the border with Argentina. The volcano contains 10 craters and extensive lava flows. Cerro Pajonales is a satellite vent 4.5 km west of the summit.

An eruption in 1990 was not confirmed.
