Sabalan Volcano is located in NW Iran, 80 km west of Caspian Sea. The volcano contains seven glaciers.

Sabalan volcano is a large composite volcano with a volume of 800 cumic km. The volcano is located within the Arabia-Eurasia collision zone, in an area of deformation between the African-Arabian and Eurasian plates.
