Cinder cone
Sunset crater is one of the youngest
cinder cones in the USA.
In the 1920's a Hollywood movie company
planned to blow it up to simulate a volcanic eruption,
but this was prevented after public
opposition.
The cone was caused by Strombolian
activity which lasted 100-200 years.
