Taftan volcano is located in SE Iran, 56 km from the Pakistan border. The volcano contains two summits (Narkuh and Matherkuh), with solfatara on SE cone.

Taftan is the only active volcano in Makran continental volcanic arc. The volcano contains both hot and cold springs.

In 1993 a lava flows or sulphur flow possibly occurred at the volcano.

In 1902 smoke was reported at the volcano.
