Unboi Island is located off the west coast of New Britain.
Mt Talo is a volcanic cone located on the west coast of Umboi Island. There are two craters and two crater lakes. Hot springs, bubbling mud pools and solfatara are located at the volcano. The people of Umboi Island have been part of an ancient trading system involving obsidian.

Umboi Volcano Eruptions

There are no recent eruptions. Older volcanic activity is indicated by the presence of lava flows, volcanic breccia, pumice, lapilli, and volcanic ash.
